Western Cape firefighters get new aircraft

Western Cape firefighters will have an additional 24 aircraft at their disposal to extinguish fires this summer.

More than 1,300 permanent firefighters are currently on duty across the province.

The aircraft will be available on contract to the provincial government.

Western Cape Local Government MEC Anton Bredell said, “If a fire is larger than five square metres, we will be able to detect it within our disaster management centres. They will send the aircraft to put out the blaze.”
