28 killed in Harrismith crash!!

Johannesburg - Twenty-eight people - including a number of children and infants - were killed when the minibus they were travelling in collided head on with a truck on the N3 just outside Harrismith early on Saturday morning, paramedics said.

The overloaded taxi - carrying 37 people - crashed into the truck at about 03:00, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced 28 people dead on the scene.

Wicks said that children and babies were among the dead, but could not give further details.

Two people were critically injured, six were seriously injured and one person sustained only minor injuries.

The cause of the accident was unclear. Police were investigating.
