SA National Severe Weather Warning: 14 December 2011 16h00 SAST

The SA Weather Service can't seem to get their weather warnings correct!! The weather warnings are once again confusing and misleading this afternoon.

I cannot understand why the SAWS cannot fix their weather warning system. If this is the way they are going to issue weather warnings in the future then I think the President should think again before signing the new proposed amendments relating to the SA Weather Service where they will be the only entity allowed to issue warnings.

For record puposes:

Current warning: Limpopo
Updated: 14/12/2011 14:13:25
No warnings nor advisories in effect
Subject: Humid and unconfortable + Heavy falls.
Detail: Valid: 15/12/2011. ------------------ 1. Extremely uncomfortable and humid conditions are expected in the Lowveld 2. Heavy falls of rain are expected in places in the lowveld.

Current warning: Mpumalanga
Updated: 14/12/2011 14:13:25
No warnings nor advisories in effect
Subject: Humid and unconfortable + Heavy falls.
Detail: Valid 15/12/2011: ----------------- 1. Extremely uncomfortable and humid conditions are expected in the Lowveld 2. Heavy falls of rain are expected in places in the lowveld.

The SAWS web-site reflect that there are No warnings nor advisories in effect for Limpopo and Mpumalanga but two lines later the following warnings are issued: 1. Extremely uncomfortable and humid conditions are expected in the Lowveld 2. Heavy falls of rain are expected in places in the lowveld.  The question now arise whether warnings are issued for these two provinces.

Some might argue that this is really petty and not an issue at all. This is far from the truth! If you issue weather warnings then there must be no confusion or misunderstanding which might confuse the general public. Peoples lives depend on timely and correct weather warnings.
