The unusually early snowstorm bringing heavy, wet snow to the tri-state area has knocked out power to thousands of customers and is causing minor delays at all three major airports. New York City has seen sporadic power outages while further north the outages have been more severe centered near Poughkeepsie and Newburgh. Scattered outages have been reported in New Jersey. In Connecticut, utilities reported more than 350,000 without service. Late Saturday afternoon, the following power utilities were reported.

The Maryland State Highway Administration declared that snow emergency plans are in effect for Carroll, Garrett, Allegany and Frederick Counties. The Maryland State Police (MSP) declares snow emergencies with input from the MarylandState Highway Administration. Once a snow emergency is declared, the law requires certain precautions. Once an emergency is in effect, all requirements are in effect until lifted. A Snow Emergency Plan is put into effect by county. Certain exceptions can occur while a snow emergency plan is in effect. For the most up to date information, it is advised to call the local MSP barrack for the county.
