Isipingo fire probe underway

Investigations are underway at a supermarket in Isipingo to determine what exactly caused yesterday's fire.

The owners of Cambridge Supermarket are busy assessing the damage at the store's food take-away area.

Firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours yesterday morning, on the ground floor of the two-storey building.

One fireman was hurt after falling from the first floor. He has received treatment in hospital. Fortunately, no-one else was injured.

The supermarket's Brian Leroni says although there has been smoke damage, he doesn't think the store will remain closed for too long.

"Its difficult to estimate the extent of the value of the damage, we still need to have the insurance assessors estimate the full value of the damage to the store," he added.
