Risks for Severe Weather From Great Lakes Through New England

(Click on image for larger view.

Gale and Storm Warnings have been posted for Lake Superior and Lake Michigan and although moisture is limited ahead of the cold front seen over Wisconsin in this image, a bank of thunderstorms could develop in parts of Michigan and Indiana along with damaging winds this afternoon and evening. The low to the east, seen on satellite imagery for the past 5 days, will evolve into an open wave today. With plenty of moisture along the leading edge interacting with a warm front in southern New England the possibility of damaging winds, large hail and perhaps a tornado is of concern to southern and central parts of New England into tonight. This image is from GOES East at 1515Z on September 29, 2011.
