Spring tide safety warning issued

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) on Friday urged fishermen and beach goers to exercise caution while at sea due to the spring tide.

During this period the rip currents are stronger than usual.

The NSRI's Craig Lambinon said the spring tide could persist for the next few days.

“We are urging particularly children to have responsible adult supervision around all waterways, but also to exercise caution around the sea because of the spring tide and for anglers to exercise caution while they’re fishing from rocks,” he said.
