Shack fire claims 2 lives in Mossel Bay

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On 16 July at around 06:00, community members were woken up by screams and a blaze of fire at Sixaxeni street, Asla Park.

According to the Mr Tshidiso Maruping (neighbour), the fire had engulfed the shack and there was no way that they could rescue the deceased.

He went on to say that as the closest neighbours, they were woken up by smoke in their shack. The Fire Department responded quickly and arrived at the time the fire was spreading to his shack.

The family of both the deceased Ms Andiswa Khonzani and Mr Mzimkhulu Kali were at the scene and are saddened by this painful incident. Andiswa leaves behind two children Vuyisa Khonzani (20) and Yolanda Khonzani, a 11-year old girl and learner at Imekhaya Primary School.

An inquest had been opened and the case is under investigation.
