Heavy rains leave Cape Town family stranded

Heavy rains have forced a Cape Town family to stay put in Cape St. Francis in the Eastern Cape.

Two weeks ago, rains destroyed a bridge bordering the town.

To make matters worse, a temporary road around the bridge was also washed away.

Noordhoek resident Malcolm Grant said they are stranded until further notice.

“The only people who can get across are people who are walking. The roads around St. Francis Bay itself are quite shocking,” he said.

He said hundreds of people have been affected.

“I don’t think the local municipality have got the wherewithal to take care of the problem on a permanent basis, quickly,” he said.
