Court seizes ambulance after firefighter wins case

The court sheriff has seized an ambulance from the Florida Park Fire Station, in order to pay off a debt to a firefighter who won his court case against the City of Johannesburg.

The decommissioned vehicle is thought to be worth around R50,000 and is still usable.

Emergency services spokesperson Nana Radebe said, “We assure the community that this will not hamper any service delivery. We have in the past managed to run all stations and people have not complained since today.”

Johannesburg emergency services has been in the spotlight over the suspension of fire chief Audrey Gule, who is accused of gross mismanagement.
