Cold snap to hit Gauteng

Gauteng residents have been warned to brace themselves for icy weather when a cold front hits part of the province on Monday evening.

Maximum temperatures will drop to around 10 degrees on Tuesday and parts of the province will experience overnight rain.

Weatherman Simon Gear said a few isolated thunderstorms are forecast for late Monday afternoon and through the evening and Tuesday.

But he said the cold weather is only temporary.

“Things gradually recover through the rest of the week, so by Friday and Saturday we're back up to the low 20's again,” Gear added.
