At least 12 killed in central China warehouse fire

BEIJING — Chinese state media say at least 12 people have died in a warehouse fire in central China.

The official Xinhua News Agency says eight others were rescued and taken to a hospital following Tuesday's fire. Their conditions are not known.

Xinhua says the fire that covered an area of 10,000 square feet (1,000 square meters) trapped people on the second floor of the warehouse.

The warehouse is located in an industrial park in Wuhan in Hubei province. Xinhua says it is rented by a latex firm.

Police are still searching for victims. The cause of the fire is not known.
